A hardwired charger is permanently wired and looks tidiest. A plug-in charger uses a heavy-duty 240-volt outlet (NEMA 14-50) so you can unplug and swap the unit without an electrician later. For higher-power chargers or outdoor installs, hardwiring is often the safer call. A good installer recommends based on your car and garage rather than pushing one option.
